This Foster Orientation will give you the rundown on fostering animals for the shelter and answer any questions you have about whether fostering is right for you and your household. The session will cover basics of care for foster cats, dogs, kittens, puppies and small mammals. We’ll also go on a tour of the shelter and size up some potential candidates for foster.
The RHSPCA uses foster homes to help us care for pregnant, newborn or nursing pets or animals with medical or behavioral needs. Fosters take pets into their homes for additional care and/or training away from the shelter environment. Fosters provide a quiet place for pets to recover from illness or trauma, or to simply grow big enough to be placed up for adoption.
No prior experience or special training is required. If you have a spare bedroom, bathroom or even a quiet corner and are willing to share your home with a furry friend, you can foster.
